Dhaka: Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan announced today that the government has initiated several measures to enhance the vibrancy of the sports sector. He made these remarks at the closing event of the ’29th National Karate Competition-2025′, which spanned three days from May 9 to 11, organized by the Bangladesh Karate Federation at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif elaborated on the ongoing efforts to establish ad hoc committees within various sports federations. He highlighted the ongoing reform of sports organizations that were previously dissolved at the upazila, district, and divisional levels nationwide. These efforts aim to ensure that sports federations and organizations are now actively engaging in their activities.
Asif emphasized the role of sports in steering youth away from drugs and contributing to a better future. He called upon corporations and business leaders to invest in the sports sector, underscoring that
a better Bangladesh can be created if the younger generation is effectively nurtured and developed.
Despite acknowledging a budget deficit in the sports sector, Asif assured that efforts are being made to address and increase the budget.
