Info Secy Urges Government Officials to Understand Legal Issues

Rajshahi: Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana has stressed the importance of government officials and employees being well-versed in legal matters to effectively fulfill their duties. “The main job of the government employees is to implement the government’s policies according to the country’s laws. If they are aware of the legal issues, it will be easier for government officials and employees to fulfill their responsibilities,” she stated during her address.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the secretary delivered these remarks at a workshop titled ‘Laws and Strategies Helpful for Case Management,’ organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The event took place at the Rajshahi Circuit House Conference Room, with Mahbuba Farjana participating virtually from Dhaka as the chief guest.



Mahbuba Farjana emphasized the personal liability risks associated with losing a legal case, highlighting the necessity for government employees to have a solid understanding of the law to protect themselves. “If we lose a case, then personal liability comes to us. It is essential to have an understanding of the law to protect from personal liability. If we know about the legal issues related to case management and other works, it will be easier for us to fulfill our responsibilities,” she explained.



The workshop was attended by Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhtar as a special guest. Additional District Judge Masud Parvez, serving as the Law Officer of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, conducted the session. Additional Secretary of the ministry, Farah Shammi, also participated virtually.



A total of 35 officials and employees from Rajshahi PID, district information offices, Bangladesh Betar, and Bangladesh Television engaged in the workshop, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to enhancing legal knowledge among its personnel.
