Munshiganj: Five people, including four members of the same family, lost their lives in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in the Nimtala area this afternoon. The victims have been identified as Samad Fakir, 60, his son Hafez Billal, 40, wife Shahida Begum, 35, daughter Afsana, 20, and ambulance driver Mahbubul Sardar, 28. The Fakir family hailed from Dakshin Tutkhali village in Madaripur Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred when a Dhaka-bound ambulance, parked on the roadside for repairs, was struck by a bus around 1 pm. The collision resulted in the immediate death of Shahida Begum and injured five others.
The injured were swiftly taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where four subsequently succumbed to their injuries. Officer-in-Charge of Sirajdikhan Police Station Md Shahed Al Mamun confirmed the details of the accident and the fatalities involved.
