Dhaka: BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today extended thanks and congratulations to people including party leaders and workers for thronging Dhaka streets in thousands to welcome party chief and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman expressed his gratitude in a press release, also acknowledging the efforts of security forces for ensuring required security. Begum Zia made her return from London on Tuesday morning, arriving in a special air ambulance provided by Qatar’s Emir after receiving medical treatment at the prestigious London Clinic under the care of expert physicians.
Upon her arrival, Begum Zia proceeded directly to her Feroza residence in Gulshan, accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Shamila Rahman. A massive number of jubilant crowd, including party leaders and workers from various parts of the country, lined the streets from the airport to her residence. They held photographs, as well as national and party flags, to warmly welcome her back home.
