Dhaka: The National Primary Education Week 2025 is set to commence on May 10, under the theme “Ensure quality education, Build a Discrimination-Free Bangladesh”. The inaugural ceremony will be hosted at the Directorate of Primary Education, where the prestigious Primary Education Medal 2024 will be awarded to honor exceptional contributions in the primary education sector.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar is anticipated to inaugurate the event and distribute the Primary Education Medals as the chief guest. The ceremony will be chaired by Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder, with Primary and Mass Education Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana attending as a special guest. Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman will deliver the welcome address.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education initiated the Primary Education Medal to foster children’s talents and encourage teachers and education officials to enhance their creative contributions. This program, ongoing since 1985, recognizes excellence in 14 categories this year, with a total of 150 awards being distributed.
The awards will acknowledge winners in first, second, and third positions across various categories. Of the total awards, 108 will recognize achievements in sports, cultural events, and subject-based quiz competitions for students. Additionally, 42 awards will honor first, second, and third-place winners at both individual and institutional levels.
Medal and certificate awards for student competition winners are valued at TK 30,000, TK 25,000, and TK 20,000 for first, second, and third places, respectively. Individual level winners receive medals and certificates worth TK 50,000, while institutional winners receive crests and certificates of equal value.
The national-level inauguration and medal distribution will take place on May 10 at the Directorate of Primary Education in Dhaka. Subsequent upazila-level ceremonies will include discussions with local administration and education stakeholders, alongside handwriting and drawing competitions for students and various educational and cultural programs.
Awards will be presented to individuals excelling in roles such as Best District Primary Education Officer, Best PTI Superintendent, and Best Upazila Education Officer. Additionally, achievements in student inter-sports and cultural competitions will be recognized.
