Rangpur: Speakers at a function today highlighted the crucial role journalists can play in the effective implementation of development projects, particularly those carried out by non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the speakers emphasized that NGOs are executing various welfare projects aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the poor, backward, and underprivileged segments of society. Journalists, as key stakeholders in society, can contribute positively and help implement these welfare activities more efficiently.

The comments were made at a view-exchange meeting organized by World Vision Bangladesh, a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization, with journalists of the district at a restaurant in the town this noon.

Uttom B. Das, Area Programme Manager of World Vision Bangladesh, briefed journalists about the organization’s ongoing activities in the district. He mentioned that since 2022, the organization has been addressing several issues, including nutrition, prevention of child marriage, child protection, environmental development, climate change, and the introduction of health insurance for children and their guardians.

Debashis Ranjan Sarker, Communications Manager of World Vision Bangladesh, responded in detail to questions raised by journalists. Field Coordinator Md. Alvi Hussain Bhuiyan, Senior Programme Manager Joseph Mardy, Programme Officer Albert Sarker, and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Over 30 journalists from print and electronic media participated in the view-exchange meeting.
