Jhalakathi: Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bakultala area under Nalchity upazila of the district today. The deceased were identified as Md. Hashem Howlader, 70, from Bakerganj upazila, and Md. Shamim, 50, son of Ishtak Ali, a resident of Falaghar village of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred on the Barisal-Patuakhali highway around 11 am. The incident took place when a Mahindra (three-wheeler) hit an auto-rickshaw parked on the side of the road. The Mahindra driver’s loss of control while giving way to a passenger bus led to the collision, as reported by Abdus Salam, Officer-in-Charge of Nalchity Police Station.
Two passengers of the Mahindra died on the spot, while two others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal, where they remain in critical condition.
