Former IGP Mudabbir Hossain Chowdhury Passes Away at 78

Dhaka: Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mudabbir Hossain Chowdhury passed away due to old-age complications at his residence in the city early this morning. He was 78 years old.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mudabbir Hossain is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter, and numerous relatives and well-wishers who mourn his death. His funeral prayer, or namaz-e-janaza, was conducted today at the SI Shiru Mia Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the city.



IGP Baharul Alam, along with senior police officers, participated in the funeral prayer. Following the namaz-e-janaza, IGP Baharul Alam paid tribute to Mudabbir Hossain by placing flowers on the coffin. Leaders from the Bangladesh Police Service Association and the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association also paid their respects by placing flowers.



Mudabbir Hossain served as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Rajshahi Range and the Police Commissioner of Sylhet. He held the position of IGP in 2002 and retired from the police service in 2005. He was born in Shibpasha village under the Ajmiriganj police station in the Habiganj district.
