Government Approves Procurement of LNG and Fertilizer to Meet National Demand

Dhaka: The government has approved separate proposals for the procurement of three cargos of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and 70,000 metric tons of fertilizer to address the country’s increasing demand for these resources. This decision was made during the 17th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase, held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the purchase committee meeting resulted in the approval of a total of 13 proposals. Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, during a briefing with reporters, highlighted the significance of the proposals related to the procurement of LNG and fertilizers. The Petrobangla, under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, is tasked with procuring the three cargos of LNG from the spot market in Singapore by following international quotation methods.



The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will be responsible for procuring 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer from Saudi Arabia and 30,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer from Russia. These procurements are aimed at ensuring the availability of essential resources to meet the growing needs of the nation.
