Dhaka: The prices of different kinds of rice have declined by TK 6 to 10 per kilogram in the district. Rice traders attribute this decrease to the ongoing harvesting of new Boro paddy, which has been causing prices to fall slightly each day over the past week.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decline in prices is expected to continue as more new rice enters the market in the coming week. Mill owners have confirmed that the harvesting of new Boro has commenced, and they have already started purchasing the fresh stock. This activity is contributing to the gradual reduction in rice prices.
In various district markets, Basmati rice is currently being sold at TK 88 per kilogram, down from TK 92 a week ago. Similarly, Miniket rice is now priced at TK 80 per kilogram, compared to TK 86 previously.
