Bangladesh Faces Tough Competition in AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers

Kuala Lumpur: Bangladesh U-20 women’s team were drawn alongside former champions Korea Republic, hosts Laos, and Timor-Leste in Group H of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026 Qualifiers, following the draw conducted at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 33 teams were split into eight groups. The group winners and the three best runners-up, alongside hosts Thailand, will complete the cast of twelve teams for the 12th edition of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup, which will take place from April 1 to 18 next year. The tournament promises to be a fiercely contested event, setting the stage for the top four teams in the final tournament to qualify for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026.



The draw for the qualifiers has outlined the following groups:



– Group A includes DPR Korea, Nepal, Bhutan (Host), Mongolia, and Saudi Arabia.



– Group B features Vietnam (Host), Kyrgyz Republic, Hong Kong, China, and Singapore.



– Group C consists of Australia, Chinese Taipei, Palestine, and Tajikistan (H).



– Group D is made up of Myanmar (Host), India, Indonesia, and Turkmenistan.



– Group E comprises China PR (Host), Lebanon, Cambodia, and Syria.



– Group F includes Japan, IR Iran, Malaysia (H), and Guam.



– Group G features Uzbekistan (Host), Jordan, Northern Mariana Islands, and Bahrain.



– Group H, which Bangladesh is part of, includes Korea Republic, Laos (H), and Timor Leste.



Each group presents its own set of challenges and opportunities, with teams vying for a coveted spot in the final tournament next year.
