Engineer Killed in Jhalokathi Road Accident

Jhalokathi: Saidur Rahman (47), Assistant Engineer of the Jhalokathi Zilla Parishad, was killed in a road accident on Saturday night in Nalchhiti upazila. The incident occurred around 8pm in the Dhapor area on the Jhalokathi-Barishal regional highway when his motorcycle crashed into a tree by the roadside, according to Abdus Salam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchhiti Police Station.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Saidur Rahman, a resident of Kachipara in Bauphal upazila, Patuakhali district, was living in a rented house near the Jhalokathi municipality office with his wife, a primary school teacher, and their two young children. The accident happened as he was returning to Jhalokathi from Barishal. While riding his motorcycle, he lost control and collided with a tree, severely damaging the vehicle.

Locals quickly transported him to Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead.

OC Abdus Salam stated that police were immediately dispatched to the accident site and recovered the mangled motorcycle. Later that night, Saidur Rahman's body was taken to his hometown in Bauphal for final rites.
