Nor’wester Wreaks Havoc on Houses and Crops in Kurigram

Kurigram: A Nor'wester, locally known as Kalbaisakhi, swept through various upazilas in Kurigram, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The storm, which struck last night, caused significant damage to crops, residences, and infrastructure, while also disrupting the power supply by uprooting numerous trees and electric poles.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the severe weather event inflicted widespread damage on paddy fields across numerous acres, although the precise extent of the devastation remains unconfirmed. Among the affected areas, Kurigram General Hospital suffered as the storm shattered window glass on its 6th floor and caused damage to patients' wards, highlighting the storm's intensity.

Abdul Gafur, chairman of Jatrapur Union Parishad (UP) in Sadar upazila, expressed his concerns, stating, "My union suffered extensive damage in a sudden storm on Saturday night." The aftermath of the storm has left the local community grappling with the impact and assessing the full scope of the losses.
