Chinese Delegation Holds Strategic Meeting with BNP

Dhaka: A visiting delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a strategic meeting with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at a hotel in Gulshan this evening. This significant diplomatic engagement highlights the strengthening ties between the two political entities.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a seven-member BNP delegation, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, participated in the discussions. The delegation included notable figures such as Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the party’s standing committee, Ismail Zabiullah from the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, and Barrister Kaiser Kamal, the party’s legal affairs secretary. Other members were Humayun Kabir from the BNP Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee, Mahmuda Habiba from the BNP Media Cell, and ABM Abdus Sattar, a retired bureaucrat and private secretary to the BNP Chairperson.



On the Chinese side, an eight-member delegation spearheaded by Peng Jiubin of the Southeast and South Asian Affairs Bureau of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC was present. The delegation comprised Chen Xuanbo, Deputy Director of the Southeast and South Asian Affairs Bureau of the IDCPC, and Chen Yangpei, Third Secretary of the same bureau. Other members included Zhang Guiyu of the IDCPC Bureau for Southeast and South Asian Affairs, Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen, Zhang Jing, Director of the Political Department of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, and Liu Hongru, Attach© to the Political Department of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.



Prior to this meeting, Syed Ehsanul Huda, Chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Dal, also had discussions with Peng Jiubin at the same venue, indicating a broader engagement strategy by the CPC with multiple Bangladeshi political entities.
