Dhaka: A three-member delegation of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis met with the National Consensus Commission (NCC) at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban to discuss state reform proposals this morning. The meeting was presided over by NCC Vice-President Prof Ali Riaz.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, commission members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider were present at the meeting. Representing the Khelafat Majlis, Senior Nayeb-e-Amir Maulana Yusuf Ashraf, Secretary General Jalal Ahmed, and Joint-Secretary General Tofazzal Hossain Miyazi attended the discussion.
Prof Ali Riaz stated the aim of the reform commissions is to establish the rights of the people and ensure the practice of democracy in the country. He emphasized that the deposed fascist regime should not return under any circumstances and highlighted the importance of protecting citizens' rights. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of preventing enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, or any form of harassment to ensure a peaceful life for all.
Prof Riaz further highlighted the importance of an independent judiciary to maintain the rule of law and protect the rights of citizens. The meeting is part of ongoing discussions with different political parties and stakeholders. The National People's Front is scheduled to meet with the NCC at 3:00 pm today.
