Dhaka: A total of 26,928 examinees were absent on the first day of the SSC and equivalent exams while 22 others were expelled on charge of adopting unfair means. The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent exams began across the country today amid tight security measures.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information was revealed through a press release signed by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Chairman and Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers' Committee President Professor Dr. Khandaker Ehasanul Kabir. Kabir mentioned that the Bangla first paper exam was held today in a peaceful atmosphere across the country, expressing hope that the upcoming exams would also proceed smoothly.
This year, there were 1,727,778 SSC candidates nationwide. Of these, 26,928 candidates were absent on the first day of exams. In the Dhaka Board, out of 342,954 candidates, 339,458 took the exam, with 3,496 absent and two expelled. Under the Chattogram Education Board, 123,271 candidates participated out of 124,444, with 1,173 absent.
In the Rajshahi Education Board, 161,057 examinees attended the exam from a total of 162,679 candidates, leaving 1,622 absent. The Barishal Education Board saw 77,145 examinees out of 78,178, with two expulsions. The Sylhet Education Board had 82,114 examinees out of 82,992, with 878 absent and one expelled for copying.
The Dinajpur Education Board recorded 166,265 examinees from 167,606 candidates, with 1,341 absent. In the Cumilla Education Board, 147,056 examinees attended out of 149,588 candidates, with 2,553 absent and one expelled. The Mymensingh Education Board reported 91,968 examinees from 92,810 candidates, with 842 absent and three expulsions.
The Jashore Education Board had 131,579 examinees from 133,379 candidates, with 1,800 absent and one expelled for copying. Under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, 252,289 examinees participated out of 261,912 students, with 9,623 absent and 10 expulsions. The Bangladesh Technical Education Board saw 128,559 examinees from 131,236 candidates, with 2,567 absent and two expulsions.
