Dhaka: Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki today emphasized that cultural healing and inclusivity are fundamental to the government's initiatives for the Bengali New Year-1432 celebrations. Speaking at a press conference held by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs at the Foreign Service Academy auditorium on Bailey Road, Farooki highlighted the need to address societal divisions and foster unity through cultural engagement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farooki pointed out the divisions that have long existed among people, leading to distance, suspicion, and distrust between groups. He emphasized that cultural healing is an effective means to eliminate these issues. "We are doing this healing work. We are trying to celebrate the Bengali New Year together with all ethnic groups. The main reason for this is cultural inclusiveness. From that, a healing system has been developed," Farooki explained.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has planned a series of month-long events to mark the Bengali New Year, aiming to strengthen the fabric of inclusivity. Adviser Farooki detailed these events at the press conference, expressing a commitment to celebrating the nation's diversity. "Our strength and beauty is diversity. We want to celebrate this diversity," he stated.
Highlighting the significance of the Chaitra Sankranti festival, Farooki noted that the celebrations would align with the traditions of various ethnic groups. "The festivals of the small ethnic groups of our country revolve around Chaitra Sankranti. So our festivals will also start from Chaitra Sankranti this time," he added.
Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma and Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Suchismita Tithi were also in attendance at the event.
