Khulna: Three cases were filed against 2,900 unidentified people with the Sonadanga Police Station over attacking, vandalizing, and looting a Bata showroom, KFC, and Domino's Pizza in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the latest development, police arrested five more individuals during a drive last night in connection with the incidents. Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sonadanga Police Station, confirmed the arrests and the seizure of looted shoes and other items.
Towhidul Islam, the Manager of the Bata showroom at the City's Shibbari intersection, filed a case last night as the plaintiff against 1,200 to 1,300 unidentified criminals. Additionally, Sujon Mondal and Shamsul Alam, managers of KFC and Domino's Pizza at the City's Dalmil intersection, filed two separate cases with the same police station against 700 to 800 unidentified individuals each.
The plaintiffs stated in the cases that the attackers targeted their outlets during a procession that paraded along KDA Avenue on Monday evening. This procession followed a rally held at the Shibbari intersection in response to a global strike on April 7, expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza.
They reported that the attackers vandalized and looted wealth worth over Taka one crore, including shoes, cakes, beverages, and other valuable goods.
Md Ahsan Habib, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police, stated to BSS that with the latest five arrests, the total number of people detained in connection with the vandalism and looting has reached 36.
