Dhaka: Joint forces have arrested 341 individuals, including listed terrorists, extortionists, fugitives, robbers, juvenile gang members, and drug peddlers, in a series of coordinated operations conducted between March 27 and April 2. These operations were part of a nationwide effort to maintain law and order during a critical period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the joint operations were carried out in various locations across the country, including the capital city. These efforts involved units under different infantry divisions and independent brigades of the Bangladesh Army, working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies. An ISPR press release indicated that the Bangladesh Army is committed to its professional role in upholding law and order across the nation.
During these operations, authorities seized 15 illegal firearms, 53 types of ammunition, narcotics, indigenous weapons used in terrorist activities, stolen mobile phones, SIM cards, fake notes, and cash from those arrested. The individuals apprehended have been handed over to local police stations for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
Additionally, the Bangladesh Army has taken proactive measures to ensure a smooth and comfortable Eid journey for citizens. This includes patrolling public transport terminals, preventing black marketing, and ensuring the fair distribution of tickets. Army patrol teams have also worked tirelessly to provide alternative routes, parking arrangements, and traffic control to facilitate a safe journey for those traveling home for Eid.
In industrial areas, the army has played a pivotal role in ensuring the payment of salaries and bonuses through negotiations with employers and workers, contributing to a peaceful Eid celebration for workers. Furthermore, robust patrols, check posts, and special operations have helped keep theft, robbery, terrorism, and anti-social activities under control. Security measures at religious institutions, Eidgahs, and key government and private establishments have also been reinforced.
The Bangladesh Army continues to conduct such operations to maintain overall law and order in the country. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp to aid in these efforts.
