Kushtia: Cheques from the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were distributed today among poor and sick journalists and their meritorious children at Chilis Food Park in Kushtia district town. The event was organized by the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust in collaboration with the Kushtia Union of Journalists.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was graced by the presence of the Deputy Director of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, ABM Rafiqul Islam, who attended as the chief guest. The distribution ceremony was presided over by Abdur Razzak Bachchu, the President of the Kushtia Union of Journalists. Shamim Ul Hasan Apu, the General Secretary of the union, moderated the event.
A total of 28 indigent and sick journalists from various print and electronic media outlets operating in Kushtia received cheques. Additionally, 19 meritorious children of journalists were also beneficiaries of the distribution effort.
