Dhaka: Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) AKM Shahidur Rahman announced that stringent steps have been implemented to bolster security arrangements, ensuring that people celebrating Eid can travel and enjoy their holidays safely.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shahidur Rahman emphasized the importance of these measures during a press conference discussing the security arrangements for the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah. He highlighted the rush of people traveling to their ancestral villages and the increased visits of women and children to various entertainment centers, necessitating heightened security efforts.
The RAB is maintaining a vigilant stance against potential thefts or robberies in unoccupied homes during the Eid holidays, particularly in major cities like Dhaka. Shahidur Rahman noted that the security measures were set in motion at the start of Ramadan, with a focus on Eid-ul-Fitr, the most significant religious festival for Muslims.
He pointed out that with the advent of Ramadan, there has been a noticeable rise in market activity and financial transactions, leading to an uptick in crimes such as robbery and extortion. The RAB has been actively working to curb such crimes since the start of Ramadan, achieving some control over these issues.
Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity of performing all duties with increased caution during the critical period of three days: before Eid, on Eid day, and the day following Eid.
