National Moon Sighting Committee Convenes to Determine Eid-ul-Fitr Date

Dhaka: A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee is scheduled for tomorrow to determine the date of Eid-ul-Fitr, a significant religious festival for Muslims. The meeting will take place at 6.30 pm in the conference room of the Bangladesh Islamic Foundation (BIF) located at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting will be presided over by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain. The agenda includes reviewing all information related to the sighting of the Shawwal Month moon, which marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.



The public has been encouraged to report any sightings of the Shawwal moon. For this purpose, several contact numbers have been provided: 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, and 02-41050917. Additionally, sightings can be reported via fax at 02-223383397 and 02-9555951.



The Islamic Foundation has also requested that individuals inform the Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of their respective districts or upazilas through the provided telephone and fax numbers if the moon is sighted anywhere in Bangladesh.
