Khulna Prepares for Independence Day with Elaborate Programs

Khulna: Khulna District Administration, different socio-cultural organizations, and political parties have prepared detailed programs to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow. The plans were finalized during a preparatory meeting on March 18 in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Mohammad Saiful Islam and attended by freedom fighters, local elites, officials, educationists, journalists, and activists. The day will commence with a 31-gun salute at dawn at the Khulna Police Line ground.



Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar is set to hoist the National Flag at Khulna district stadium and oversee the parade. Additionally, Khulna Shishu Academy will host an art and painting competition for children focusing on the Liberation War. A discussion and a reception for freedom fighters are scheduled at the District Shilpakala Academy.



Public and private buildings will display national flags, and floral wreaths will be laid at the Gallyamary Monument by people from all walks of life. Special prayers will be conducted at religious sites, and improved meals will be served in hospitals, orphanages, and jails. State-run Khulna Betar will air special programs, and local newspapers will release special supplements.



Several political parties, including the Khulna city and district units of BNP, National Citizen Party, Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, and Gana Adhikar Parishad, have announced separate programs. These include flag hoisting, wreath laying at the Gallamary Martyrdom Memorial, and discussions at party offices.



In addition, institutions such as Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna City Corporation, Khulna WASA, Khulna Press Club, Khulna Metropolitan Union of Journalists, Mongla Port Authority, and various socio-cultural groups will observe the day appropriately.
