Dhaka: The government has announced a 58-day fishing ban in the bay, set to commence on April 15. This initiative aims to facilitate the proper breeding, production, preservation, and collection of marine fisheries.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fishing ban will remain in effect until June 11, as specified in a gazette notification by the fisheries and livestock ministry. The notification states that, following the marine fisheries rules of 2023, restrictions have been imposed on catching all types of fish using any fishing vessels. This annual measure is designed to ensure the sustainable collection of marine resources in the maritime zone of Bangladesh.
