Panchagarh: Border Guard Bangladesh has arrested three Bangladeshis, including a child, on charges of entering Bangladesh from India through the Panchagarh border. The BGB personnel detained the three persons from the Malkadanga border area of Boda upazila in Panchagarh under the jurisdiction of 56 BGB Battalion of Nilphamari.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestees, who are members of the same family, are Paritosh Kumar, 27, of Nandapara Nayadighi village in Boda upazila, his wife Radhika Rani, 24, and their three-year-old daughter Vaishnavi Rani. The family allegedly crossed into Bangladesh from India through Sub Pillar Number 4 of Main Pillar 774 on the Malkadanga border in Boda upazila.

During initial interrogation, the family disclosed that they had entered India illegally two and a half months ago through a broker’s ring. They returned to Bangladesh via the same network, agreeing to pay Taka 20,000. Authorities recovered two mobile phones, Indian currency worth Rs 2,300, and Bangladeshi currency worth Taka 278 from the family.

The BGB was unable to apprehend the two members of the broker’s ring as they managed to escape. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boda Police Station Azim Uddin stated that the BGB has handed over the two detainees, including the child, to the police station. A case has been filed against the two.
