Dhaka: The government has approved a proposal in principle to establish a Ground Mounted Solar PV system, with a capacity of 100-200MW, at the National Special Economic Zone Project (NSEZ) through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the approval was granted during the 10th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs. The meeting was held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. The proposal for the project was presented by the Chief Adviser’s Office.
The initiative aims to enhance renewable energy capacity and infrastructure development within the NSEZ, aligning with the country’s goals of sustainable growth and energy diversification. The government’s decision to implement the project on a PPP basis is expected to encourage private sector involvement and investment in the renewable energy sector.
