Chuadanga: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an individual, Md Raj Rocky, along with six gold bars weighing 729 grams, valued at approximately Tk 87,48,680, from the bordering areas of the district on Monday afternoon. The arrest took place at the Jibannagar Police Station intersection, following a raid conducted by the Moheshpur Battalion (58 BGB) from Jhenaidah.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was executed based on secret information received by the BGB. The 32-year-old detainee, hailing from Gayeshpur village in Jibannagar upazila, was taken into custody and brought to the Jibannagar camp for questioning. Initially, Rocky did not admit to any wrongdoing, but later confessed to his involvement in gold smuggling activities.

Further inspection led to an unusual discovery where authorities found two cast-iron pots concealed in a cavity of Rocky’s body. Upon opening these pots, six pieces of gold bars weighing 729 grams were recovered. The estimated market value of the seized gold is Tk 87,48,680, as confirmed by a BGB press release.

A case has been officially registered at the Jibannagar Police Station, where the confiscated gold bars have also been deposited for further legal proceedings.
