Dhaka: The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources today urged farmers to operate irrigation pumps between 11pm and 7am during the upcoming summer and irrigation season. This initiative is designed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during a period of high demand.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this directive was issued in an official handout with the goal of balancing energy consumption across different sectors. The ministry emphasized the importance of this practice to maintain stability in the power grid, especially during peak agricultural activity.

In addition to the irrigation pump operation guidelines, the ministry advised citizens to set air conditioners at 25 degrees Celsius or above and to limit excessive use of lights and illumination. This is part of a broader energy conservation strategy aimed at reducing the overall load on the national power supply network.

For any complaints or additional information, the ministry has encouraged communication through a designated hotline by dialing 16999. This move is intended to streamline the process for addressing public concerns and ensuring effective dissemination of information related to power usage and conservation strategies.
