Barishal: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today emphasized the necessity of improving the standard of primary education across the country. “Our main goal is to increase the standard of primary education. The infrastructural and other development works for the overall development of education will be carried out side by side,” he stated.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser made these remarks during a meeting at the Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) located in Sagordi, Barishal district, where he served as the chief guest. During the meeting, he engaged in discussions with stakeholders to explore strategies for enhancing the quality of primary education.

Bidhan expressed that effective management of schools would ensure an adequate number of students. He stressed the importance of education and highlighted the responsibility of teachers to deliver primary education with dedication for the advancement of students. Without proper primary education, students may struggle with higher education, he cautioned.

He further noted that children should be taught language literacy, basic knowledge, reading, writing, speaking, and mathematics. “We will reward schools that do well in these areas,” he mentioned, indicating a plan to incentivize educational performance. The government intends to implement a system where students receive rewards for excelling in their subjects, while accountability measures will be introduced for students with poor results.

Addressing the government’s commitment to educational development, Bidhan pointed out the efforts to enhance infrastructure, coordinate teaching staff, and adopt suitable measures for curriculum subjects and teachers, particularly in the country’s char areas.

The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Delwar Hossain, with contributions from Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Nur Md Shamsuzzaman, Director (Policy and Operation) Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Additional Divisional Commissioner Sohrab Hossain, Barishal Divisional Deputy Director of the Directorate of Primary Education Nilufar Yasmin, and District Primary Education Officer Al Imran Khandaker.
