Dhaka: Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani today assured the public that there is no security threat looming ahead of Independence Day and Eid-ul-Fitr. However, he emphasized that comprehensive preparations are in place to prevent any unforeseen incidents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ghani addressed questions regarding potential threats surrounding the two significant days following a law and order meeting at the Home Ministry in the Secretariat. “Risks are always there. But, we’re not seeing any threat,” he affirmed, indicating confidence in the current security landscape.
In response to inquiries about measures to curb mugging and robbery during the Eid vacation in the relatively empty capital city, Ghani stated, “We have taken all our preparations. Police have taken a strong stance in the last few days and it will continue in the days to come.” This highlights the proactive approach taken by law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and safety during the festive period.
The senior home ministry official also discussed efforts to prevent potential labour unrest ahead of Eid. He noted that discussions have been held with relevant authorities to ensure timely payment of workers’ salaries, thereby averting any dissatisfaction or chaos. “There is a possibility of labour unrest ahead of the Eid. We have taken every possible measure by holding talks with the concerned authorities to check unrest. We have asked all concerned to clear salaries in due time as we do not want to see any chaos,” Ghani explained.
