Dhaka: The National University (NU) authority has declared that individuals must possess at least a post-graduation degree to qualify for membership in the governing bodies of NU’s affiliated private colleges across the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement also stated that members, including the president and other ad-hoc committee members, will no longer be entitled to any financial benefits from the colleges. Furthermore, an individual cannot simultaneously be a member of the governing bodies of two different colleges.

The NU authority revealed these decisions on Tuesday through two separate notifications, specifying that the orders would take immediate effect. One notification emphasized that members of college governing bodies and ad-hoc committees serve voluntarily and their positions are entirely non-salaried. It directed that members should refrain from accepting any financial benefits from their respective colleges.

The notification further mentioned that the NU holds the power to suspend any ad-hoc committee or governing body that does not adhere to these directives.
