Dhaka: BNP backed white panel teachers of Dhaka University (DU) today demanded exemplary punishment of the rapists of an 8-year-old Magura girl. In a statement, they expressed deep shock at the death of the Magura girl and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the statement was signed by the convener of the organization, Prof. Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan, Joint Convener Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam, and Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar. They emphasized that her death is a clear indication of moral degradation in society, urging the interim government to take stern actions against the culprits.
Besides, the teachers also expressed concern over the incidents of rape and harassment of women and children in different parts of the country.
