Dhaka: This year, the minimum and maximum rates for Fitra have been set at Taka 110 and Taka 2,805 per person, respectively. The decision was reached during the National Sadakatul Fitra Fixation Committee meeting held in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was presided over by Maulana Mufti Abdul Maleque, the President of the National Fitra Fixing Committee and Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Fitra, a donation paid by well-off Muslims to the less fortunate before Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers, saw a decrease from last year when the minimum was Tk 115 and the maximum was Tk 2,970 per person.
The Islamic Foundation press release stated that Fitra can be paid with food items such as flour, barley, raisins, dates, and cheese. The rates are based on the current market prices of these items collected from all divisions. Muslims are encouraged to pay Fitra based on their financial capacity, either with specific items or their equivalent market value.
The meeting was attended by members of the Islamic Foundation Board of Governors, including Maulana Syed Mohammad Mosaddeque Billah Al Madani, Dr. Khalilur Rahman Madani, Maulana Shah Mohammad Nesarul Huq, Islami Arabic University Dean Prof. Dr. Waliullah, Islamic Foundation Secretary Mohammad Ismail Hossen, Islamic Foundation director Mohammad Touhidul Anawar, and other Islamic scholars.
