Bangladesh Women’s Kabaddi Team Celebrated for Bronze Medal Achievement

Dhaka: The Ministry of Youth and Sports accorded a warm reception to Bangladesh women's kabaddi team, which won a bronze medal in the recently concluded 6th edition of the Asian Women's Kabaddi Championship held in Iran. The reception ceremony was held at the conference room of the National Sports Council today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Youth and Sports secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi addressed the function as the chief guest, while NSC secretary Aminul Islam was present as the special guest. The event was also attended by Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) vice presidents Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Md. Motaher Hossain, Hafizur Rahman Khan, and Abdullah Al Noman, along with general secretary SM Newaz Shohag.

Speaking as the chief guest, Youth and Sports secretary Rezaul Maksud Jahedi expressed pride in the women's kabaddi team, stating, "We are proud of our women's kabaddi team. Sports Advisor is also very happy with this achievement of the women's team. On behalf of the advisor, we welcome you." He emphasized the potential of kabaddi and the ministry's support, mentioning plans to increase the budget for the sport in the future.

Jahedi further announced a grant of 25 lakhs to the BKF for improved training, expressing confidence that the women's kabaddi team will achieve more with enhanced training support. BKF general secretary SM Newaz Sohag thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support and acknowledged the Sports Advisor's backing. He also expressed optimism for future international events, committing to making every effort to excel.

It is noteworthy that Bangladesh secured the bronze medal in the Asian Women's Kabaddi Championship by defeating Thailand in the group phase match.
