Dhaka: Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb today emphasized the importance of creating a digital inventory for the assets of the Directorate of Posts (DoP) and announced that effective measures will be implemented to reclaim assets that have been previously seized. Taiyeb, who also oversees the ministry of posts, telecommunications and information technology, made these remarks during a discussion with DoP officials at the Dak Bhaban in Agargaon, as stated in a ministry release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Taiyeb highlighted the necessity for the DoP to enhance its institutional capacity to align with digital transformation demands. He instructed officials to ensure the quality of all construction works, as well as the quality of equipment and software associated with the DoP.

Discussing various projects, Taiyeb stressed that no project would receive approval without a clearly defined exit plan. He insisted, “The project must have an exit plan. DPP quality must be ensured in new projects.”

The special assistant further directed the officials to investigate ways to deliver government services, which typically require in-person visits to offices, directly to citizens’ homes via the DoP. He also recommended that officials look into successful service models from neighboring countries such as India and Pakistan rather than relying solely on examples from Europe.

During the meeting, the activities of the DoP were presented in detail. The meeting was chaired by Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Dr Md Mushfiqur Rahman, with DoP officials in attendance.
