Dhaka: A court here today ordered to freeze 124 bank accounts of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana, and others associated with their interests. The decision marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the financial dealings of the former prime minister's family.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court also ordered the attachment of immovable properties belonging to Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and daughter Tulip Rizwana Siddiq. The properties in question include a flat in Gulshan owned by Tulip, a house named Sudha Sadan in Dhanmandi belonging to Joy and Putul, a six katha plot in Kaliakoir, Gazipur owned by Rehana, and six flats with parking spaces owned by Radwan Mujib Siddiq located in Gulshan and Mohakhali.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The decision aims to prevent the transfer or handover of these properties, which could potentially hinder the investigation. ACC Deputy Director (public relations) Akterul Islam confirmed the matter to BSS, emphasizing the necessity of freezing the accounts to ensure the integrity of the investigation.
