One Arrested with 15 Gold Bars on Satkhira Border

Satkhira: Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted an operation resulting in the arrest of a man with 15 gold bars, valued at approximately Taka 2.5 crore, from the Abader Hat frontier area in Sadar upazila last night.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was carried out by a team from the BGB-33 Battalion following a tip-off. The team arrested Sohel, an easy bike driver, and recovered the gold bars weighing about two kilograms from his vehicle. The operation was outlined in a press release issued by BGB-33 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque.



The press release further stated that the gold was being smuggled to India through the Abader Hat border area of Satkhira. The apprehended individual will be handed over to Sadar Police Station, while the seized gold bars will be deposited at the Satkhira Treasury Office.
