Dhaka: A marauding 32-ball 78 not out by Alauddin Babu helped Partex Sporting Club chase down a target of 300 for a stunning three-wicket victory over Prime Bank Cricket Club in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) game at the BKSP-3 ground today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Bank posted a respectable 299-8, with Shamim Patwari playing a critical role by scoring 69 runs. His earlier 83-ball 98 not out was key in Prime Bank’s victory in the first match. Shahadat Hossain Dipu contributed with a 61-ball 64, following his 39-ball 54 in the first match. However, these efforts were overshadowed by Alauddin Babu’s remarkable performance.
Partex Sporting Club faced a daunting task of chasing 300 runs and was initially reduced to 54-2. Captain Sabbir Rahman and Rubel Mea provided some stability, adding a 78-run partnership for the third wicket. Sabbir was dismissed after scoring 53 off 43 balls, which included four fours and as many sixes.
Despite Prime Bank’s continued efforts to take wickets at regular intervals, Partex found themselves struggling at 214-7 in the 41st over. The prospect of victory seemed slim until Alauddin Babu took charge. He smashed the bowlers to all corners of the park, hitting five fours and seven sixes in his innings. His partnership with Mohor Sheikh, who contributed only 9 runs out of 86, guided Partex to victory with two overs to spare.
