Kushtia: Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain today inaugurated Shaheed Abrar Fahad Stadium in the district. Barkat Ullah, the father of Abrar Fahad, was present at the event.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif Mahmud stated that Abrar Fahad is not just a name, but a symbol of the anti-aggression struggle. The stadium has been named after Abrar to ensure his memory endures. The event was attended by Youth and Sports Secretary Rezaul Maksud Jahedi and Joint Secretary Aminul Islam, with Deputy Commissioner Towfiqur Rahman presiding over the ceremony.
Earlier in the day, Asif Mahmud visited Abrar’s grave at Koya village in Kumarkhali of the district. The construction work of the stadium, previously named Sheikh Russel Stadium, began on January 13, 2022, with an estimated cost of about Taka 40 crore. The stadium’s name was officially changed after August 5 last year.
