33 Members of Awami League and Affiliates Arrested in Chattogram

Dhaka: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have arrested 33 leaders and activists of the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League from various areas of the city over the past 24 hours.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were made on charges of attacking protesters during the student-led mass uprising in July and August of the previous year. Several teams from the CMP conducted coordinated raids to apprehend the individuals.

The arrested members have been implicated in multiple cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and PR) of the CMP stated that most of the arrestees face accusations in several existing cases.
