Dhaka: Labour and Employment Adviser Brig Gen (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain has announced the interim government's commitment to establishing a labor system that aligns with international labor standards.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain emphasized that the Ministry of Labour and Employment is already taking steps to implement Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Yunus's instructions. These efforts aim to make labor laws compatible with global standards, thereby enhancing the living standards of workers and ensuring the welfare and dignity of Bangladeshi workers.
Dr. Hussain made these remarks during a discussion on labor issues held with embassy officials from various countries at a city hotel on Wednesday night. He highlighted the government's initiative to set up a high-powered Labor Rights Reform Commission led by a labor rights activist.
The commission is tasked with submitting recommendations within the month, focusing on identifying issues within the labor sector. The goal is to ensure fundamental rights for all workers in both formal and informal sectors, while also establishing social justice for the working population in accordance with international standards.
