Dhaka: A court here today imposed a travel ban on former officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Mazharul Islam and his wife Naila Khan over graft allegations. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting a plea of the assistant director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Bishan Ghosh, ACC deputy director and public relations officer Akhtarul Islam confirmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ACC in its plea stated that the commission is investigating allegations of amassing illegal wealth against Mazharul Islam. During the primary investigation, it was discovered that substantial illegal wealth had been accumulated in the name of his wife, Laila Khan. The ACC argued that a travel ban should be imposed to prevent them from potentially fleeing the country.
