Gaibandha: A month-long iftar and dinner program for orphaned and distressed individuals has been launched in Gaibandha, marking a continuation of six years of charitable efforts by the Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local voluntary organization. This initiative, funded entirely by GUK, began on the first day of Ramadan and aims to support the unprivileged members of the community.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was inaugurated by A.K.M Hedaitul Islam, the additional deputy commissioner (General), who served as the chief guest. The launch event was attended by prominent figures including Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader and former member of parliament (MP) Saiful Alam Saza, Brigadier General (Retired) Rakibur Rahman Daales, along with invited dignitaries and journalists.

Highlighting Ramadan's importance, the additional deputy commissioner remarked, "Muslims across the world observe the holy month through fasting, prayers, and reflection. It is the month in which the Quran was revealed to our prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM)." He also praised the GUK and its staff for their commitment to aiding the underprivileged.

GUK's chief executive, Abdus Salam, stated that the program aims to provide iftar and dinner to at least 450 poor and distressed individuals daily throughout the month, emphasizing the organization's dedication to community service during the holy month.
