Dhaka: Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested two professional drug peddlers along with a large quantity of Yaba from the capital’s Bailey Road. The arrested individuals were identified as Md. Bappi Mallick, 37, and Md. Rubel Mia, 35, as mentioned in a media release by DMP.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team from the DB, Gulshan Division, conducted a raid on Tuesday at around 12:10 midnight. The operation led to the arrest of the duo in front of the Girl Guides Association on Bailey Road, with a seizure of 2,050 pieces of Yaba.
Police reported that the estimated value of the seized Yaba is Taka 6 lakh. During the initial interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to their long-term involvement in the drug trade and admitted that the seized Yaba tablets were intended for sale. Legal action is currently underway against them.
