Drives to Control Prices of Essential Commodities During Ramadan in Lakshmipur

Lakshmipur: Lakhsmipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajib Kumar Sarkar today conducted drives at several markets in Lakshmipur to control the prices of essential commodities during Ramadan.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive was carried out with the presence of key officials, including Superintendent of Police (SP) of Lakshmipur district Akter Hossen, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) JP Dewan, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Jamshed Alam Rana, and Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdul Monnaf. Officials from the District Consumer Rights, district Agricultural Marketing Department, Fisheries Department, and several executive magistrates of the district administration were also present.

During the operations, authorities warned shopkeepers against forming syndicates to increase commodity prices. DC Rajib Kumar stated that such drives would continue throughout Ramadan, noting that the prices of essentials have already started stabilizing. “We have warned some shops initially rat

SP Akhter Hossen emphasized the alignment between the police and district administration, stating that the police are actively working to control commodity prices and monitor markets to prevent the formation of syndicates. He added, “The police is working to make solution about illegal structures from the both side of footpaths to reduce traffic jam.”
