Dhaka: The National Voters’ Day-2025 was observed in Chattogram city and district in a befitting manner aimed at creating awareness among voters, particularly the youth, on democracy, elections, and voting rights.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a colorful rally led by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin was organized from the city’s Circuit House area and concluded at the same venue after parading various important city streets. Hundreds participated in the rally, including officials and employees from government and private sectors.
Following the rally, a meeting was held at the local circuit house conference room to encourage citizens to cast their votes and strengthen democracy in the country, while emphasizing the day’s significance. Chattogram Regional Election Officer Mohammad Belayet Hossain Chowdhury presided over the event, with Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin serving as the chief guest.
Prominent figures such as Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam, Additional DIG of Police Sanjay Sarkar, and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Md. Mahmudul Hasan attended the meeting. Officials and employees from regional and district election offices, alongside other government officials, were also present.
This year’s National Voters’ Day was the seventh observance and was themed “Tomar Amar Bangladesh, Vote Dibo Milemishe.” Dr. Md. Ziauddin highlighted the importance of fair elections and raising awareness about voting rights to give democracy an institutional shape. The day’s program was inaugurated by the divisional commissioner through the release of pigeons and balloons.
