Jashore: The government is undertaking a significant project valued at Taka 371 crore aimed at modernizing 13 of its fisheries farms across the nation. This initiative, spanning four years, seeks to enhance the capacity and production of government hatcheries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Additional Director General of the Fisheries Directorate Md Zia Haidar Chowdhury made this announcement during a workshop where he participated as the chief guest. The event was chaired by District Fisheries Officer Jashore Sarkar Rafiqul Alam and featured contributions from Project Director Md Moshiur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Fisheries for Khulna Division Md Jahangir Alam, and Senior Assistant Director of the Fisheries Directorate Mahbubur Rahman.
The project, titled ‘Structural Development for Enhancing the Capability and Production of the Government Hatcheries,’ aims to boost fish production in the designated areas by up to 30 percent upon its completion. The Additional Director General expressed optimism that if successful, the project could lead to further expansions in the private sector, thus potentially increasing overall fish production.
