Dhaka: The government has announced adjusted office timings for the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan applicable to government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous organizations. The Ministry of Public Administration released a gazette notification detailing the changes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new office hours during Ramadan will be from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. A 15-minute break is scheduled from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm for Zohr prayers. The weekly holidays will remain on Friday and Saturday. This adjustment contrasts with the current regular office hours for government employees, which are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The notification further specified that banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, postal services, railways, hospitals, state-owned industrial institutions, factories, and other emergency service providers will determine their office hours based on their own regulations, considering public interest. Additionally, the Bangladesh Supreme Court will establish the office timings for all courts nationwide.
The holy month of Ramadan of Hizri 1446 (the year 2025) in the Arabic Calendar is anticipated to commence on March 01, contingent upon the sighting of the moon.
