Dhaka: Chief Adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam has said many people were killed extra judicially during the regime of Sheikh Hasina. He made these remarks while unveiling the cover of a book by journalist Mashrur Shakil at Adorn Publication during the Ekushey Book Fair.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam criticized the Awami League for allegedly establishing a shameful history in Bangladesh by carrying out extrajudicial killings. He noted that over 450 such incidents occurred in 2018 alone. Alam emphasized that the book serves as a testament to the challenges faced by journalists in Bangladesh while covering these incidents.
Alam further highlighted the significance of the book in the context of journalism in Bangladesh, stating, “This is a difficult task. This work was done by Mashrur Shakil. This book should be taught in all the universities in Bangladesh that have journalism departments.”
