Lakshmipur: The district administration of Lakshmipur distributed donation cheques to the families of martyrs and those injured during the July-August uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, financial aid totaling approximately Taka 20 lakh was distributed in two phases. This initiative was a collaborative effort between the district administration and the district social services department. Cheques of Taka 10,000 were given to each of the 16 martyr families, while those injured received cheques of Taka 5,000 each.
The cheque distribution took place at a function held in the Sadar Upazila Parishad Hall room on Sunday evening. The event, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarker, saw attendance from notable figures such as Superintendent of Police Md. Akhter Hossain, Deputy Director of Local Government Department Jasim Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner JP Dewan, and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Jamshed Alam Rana.
District administration sources reported that the July-August student-public uprising resulted in 16 deaths and injuries to 259 others. Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarker emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring proper treatment for the injured.
